Julius Randle was born November 29, 1994 in Dallas, Texas. Randle was raised by his mother as his father was absent most of his young life. In high school, Randle was considered one of the top players in the country and was highly recruited. Randle elected to attend Kentucky along with one of the top freshman classes of all-time.
After just one season in Kentucky, Randle entered the 2014 NBA Draft and was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Lakers. After four seasons, Randle played one season in New Orleans before ending up in New York as part of the Knicks. Capable of playing forward or center, Randle is one of the best well-rounded big men in the league.
Randle was considered one of the top players in the nation in 2013. During his senior season, Randle averaged 32.5 points and 22.5 rebounds per game. He won the Under Armour Elite 24 Dunk Contest in August of 2012. He was also the MVP of the Elite 24 game.
Randle committed to Kentucky over Texas, Florida and Kansas. During his freshman season, Randle led Kentucky to the National Championship Game (lost to UCONN) and was a semifinalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year. He finished the season with 24 double-doubles, second-most in school history. He averaged 15 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Randle was selected seventh overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Just 14 minutes into his NBA debut, Randle broke his right tibia and missed the remainder of the season. He returned the following year for the Summer League.
During the 2017-2018 season, Randle was mostly a backup but did appear in all 82 games for the Lakers. Following the end of the season, Randle was waived by the Lakers, making him an unrestricted free agent.
On July 9, 2018, Randle signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. After just one season, Randle signed with the New York Knicks exactly one year later.
