Another huge back-liner schooled in the USA program, and whose present game is all about big hits and playing sound defense. Has quick feet, effortless pivots, excellent lateral movement and long powerful strides that allow him to cover large areas of ice in the blink of an eye. Displays good hockey IQ and high level read and react instincts. Defensively his positioning is solid and his wingspan and foot speed allow him to take away time and space and gets stick on the puck quickly. Not shy about playing physically, but knowing big men are under high scrutiny from referees when they put hits on smaller opposing players. An anchor on the penalty kill, if he gets possession his head is up, looking quickly to get it up ice. He may not lead many rushed, but will jump in on them as a late trailer if the occasion occurs. While in the offensive zone, he generally assumes the role of the safety valve and doesn’t venture down low too often.
