Samuel Helenius

Son of former NHL enforcer defenseman Sami, Samuel, at six foot six, looks like a giant checking line and intimidation force. Needs better lateral agility but his North-South skating has improve immensely. Has a full torque wrist shot and his game seems to relish ruffling defenseman while occupying space in front. Has tools and is not simply a strong checker with size. Finishes his checks and is a huge load to stop. Still developing, but he seemed a much different player in the World Junior Under 20, where his overall footwork and first steps were significantly better. Displays a strong wrist shot, and controls pucks so well with his reach. A strong net presece as he is more Han willing to rough up defenders down low, and finishes his checks like car crashes. This is a young man that can become an intimidating force on the forecheck as long as he learns to stay smart and continues to improve in all phases.
