Ryan Chesley

At six foot and growing, he has a long frame and the ability to get up ice in a few powerful steps. He plays on the top power play unit and and has a good one-timer. Needs to make better decisions on when to pinch and when to stay back. Has the body of a future pro and great vision and physical package. He moves pucks ahead with authority and has strong defensive acumen. He keeps a tight gap by using his fluid skating to contain speedy elusive attackers. Plays with good length using an active stick to break up rushes. His puck handling is an area still in development. He is one of the steady two way defenders but much of the offense hasn’t shown up save for the chance it will come later. He’s fluid on his pins, maintains tight gaps and keeps attackers outside. Seals and pins, has physicality, and moves the puck North quickly. Defers being the puck carrier in most instances, and that may be because his puck handling is an area still in development. A composed, USA program smart prospect who will be selected and allowed to get more assertive with the biscuit, as the defensive acumen is really very apparent already.
