Saw some action during the 2019-20 SHL season with Malmö in the Swedish Elite, and since has become a regular on their backline. A steady and solid two-way defenseman who throws hard hits to clean up the crease area. Is playing ahead of Hugo Grans, a second rounder in 2020. He is smart offensively and will join the rush. Makes good outlets when not under siege, and when he is he simply chips it out safely. A good competitor who wins one on one battles and holds possession on the wall and handle involvement and contact well. Has a nice point shot, and is never in a rush to delivery pucks accurately to teammates. In 2020-21 he played the entire season in the SHL for Malmö and was a fairly solid defensive game, finishing checks even though he is maybe six foot. But there recent Under-18s showed a limited amount of hockey sense, and decision making which might has been less prominent in the SHL, but magnified in the World-under 18s, where is he came off looking like a turnover machine. This may have dropped his draft slotting, but he is decent when he is winning the one on ones and playing steady within a system, with out as much risk taking. Solidly built smooth skating rearguard who can dance through traffic and split defenders. A smooth skate who gets great glide off crisp edging and uses it to drive wide and beat defenders. Does plenty of puck handling and loves to carry the puck up ice, and his attacking mindset has him always looking to activate. And although skating a the offensive end are his calling cards there is significant growth defensively since last year. Makes smart and efficient zone exits, as he clears the zone the first time, and every time, with precise passes. His defensive position is much improved, as he kills plays early with anticipation and an active stick. His footwork in coverage is very sharp. Let me add in conclusion, he shoots bullets from the point. Might be an up and comer on the scout’s lists.
