Kevin Knox II was born on August 11, 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona. He grew up and played high school basketball in Tampa, Florida. A five-star recruit out of high school, Knox was one of the highest-ranked players in his high school class. Knox elected to play college basketball at Kentucky over Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and the Chinese Basketball Association.
Knox played just one season at Kentucky before declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft. He became the sixth-youngest player in NBA history to score 30 or more points in a single game. A versatile player who can play anywhere on the court, Knox is a big part of the New York Knicks rebuilding process.
Kevin Knox played high school basketball at Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, Florida. During his junior season, Knox averaged 30.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Between his junior and senior season, Knox played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. He averaged 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. His senior season, Knox averaged 28.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Knox played in both the McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic.
Considered one of the top recruits in the country, Knox elected to attend Kentucky over the likes of Duke, Florida State and North Carolina. He also turned down an offer to play professionally in China.
During his freshman season, Knox led the team with 15.9 points per game. He was named to the All-Rookie and First Team All-SEC. He led the team to an SEC Tournament title. On April 6, 2018, Knoc declared for the 2018 NBA Draft, forgoing his final three years of eligibility.
Knox was selected ninth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2018 NBA Draft. He missed almost two months with an ankle injury from October to December during his rookie season. He returned to win the Eastern Conference’s December 2018 NBA Rookie of the Month Award.
Knox scored a career-high 31 points, along with seven rebounds and two steals, on January 13, 2019.
