Jarrett Culver High School Career (Coronado High School)

Jarrett Culver attended Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. His first two years were on the quieter end in high school, but he began to show promise in his junior year. As a junior at Coronado, Culver averages 20 points per game, helping his team reach the 6A regional semifinals. He earned the name of Lone Star Varsity Player of the Year following his junior season. Culver again showed improvement in the following year, averaging 30 points per game in his senior campaign. He was again named the Lone Star Varsity Player of the Year. Following his career at Coronado High School, Culver was provided a 3-Star rating. 

Jarrett Culver College Career (Texas Tech)

Jarrett Culver’s Texas Tech debut was not exactly a headline performance. In his 16 minutes of play against South Alabama on November 10, 2017, Culver only managed to produce 2 points. His best game of the season came on February 26 against West Virginia. Culver tallied a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. In his freshman year, Culver averaged 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He also set the Texas Tech freshman in conference play scoring record with 229 points.  

In his sophomore season, Culver came on strong early. On November 6, 2018, Jarrett recorded 16 points and 4 assists in a win over Incarnate Word. Just two weeks later he poured in 26 points on Nebraska in the Hall of Fame Classic matchup. Culver scored his career high of 31 points against Iowa State on March 9, 2019. He helped Texas Tech secure a share of the Big 12 regular season title, and was named Big 12 Player of the Year. Culver then had a stellar NCAA Tournament, helping the Red Raiders reach the championship game. Culver scored 15 points on 5/22 shooting in the game, but it was not enough to beat the Virginia Cavaliers. Following their loss in the championship game, Culver declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Jarrett Culver was selected sixth overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2019 NBA Draft. The draft rights to Culver were then immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night. In return for Culver, the Phoenix Suns received Dario Saric and the 11th pick in the draft. Culver officially inked his name with the Timberwolves on July 8, 2019. In his NBA debut against the Brooklyn Nets, Jarret tallied four points, two assists, and one steal. He is currently averaging 9.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
