Jabari Parker was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 15, 1995. After receiving D-I scholarships in fifth grade, Parker went on to have one of the best high school basketball careers in history. He was a four-time state champion at Simeon High School. He set a number of school records and won numerous accolades in his career.
Widely considered the top recruit of his class, Parker elected to play basketball at Duke University. After just one season at Duke, where he set even more records and won more accolades, Parker declared for the 2014 NBA Draft.
Parker now plays for the Sacramento Kings, his fifth different NBA team in his six seasons.
Jabari Parker was the first freshman to start at Simeon High School, located in Chicago. He averaged 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game as he led his team to a Class 4A state title. He was selected as the ESPNHS 2010 Freshman of the Year.
Parker led his team to a second-straight 4A state title and was the ESPNHS Sophomore of the Year. During his junior year, Parker became the first Mr. Illinois Basketball winner that wasn’t a senior. He also won the Gatorade Player of the Year Award. He also won the ESPNHS Junior of the Year.
Parker was the consensus #1 overall player in the country his senior season. He led Simeon to their fourth-consecutive Class 4A state title. Parker ended his high school career as one of the most accomplished high school basketball players of all-time.
Parker made his commitment to Duke in December of his senior season. Parker had 18 20-point games, which is one shy of the ACC freshman record. He was the first freshman to lead Duke in both scoring and rebounding. He also set the Duke all-time freshman record with 19.1 points per game.
Like his high school career, Parker’s college career was full of accolades and records. After just one collegiate season, Parker declared for the 2014 NBA Draft.
Parker was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the second overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. In his first home game of his career, Parker posted his first career double-double. After a solid start to his career, Parker suffered a torn ACL on December 15, 2014 which ended his rookie season.
Parker didn’t return until November of the 2015-2016 season. In his second season, Parker was named to the NBA Rising Stars Challenge lineup during All-Star Weekend. During the 2016-2017 season, Parker suffered another season ending injury on February 9th when an MRI revealed another torn ACL. He finished the season second of the team in scoring at 20.1 points per game.
After missing nearly a calendar year, Parker returned on February 2, 2018. After he finished out the season, Parker signed a contract to play for the Chicago Bulls. He was traded from Chicago to Washington in February of 2019 along with Bobby Portis and a 2023 second-round pick for Otto Porter. The Wizards declined Parker’s second year of his contract following the completion of the season.
After the 2018-2019 season ended, Parker signed with the Atlanta Hawks on July 11, 2019. He suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for multiple weeks. On February 6, 2020, Parker was traded to the Sacramento Kings.
