Evan Fournier began his basketball career in Paris, France playing high school basketball for INSEP, the National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance. Following high school, Fournier went on to sign a one-year deal with JSF Nanterre of the LNB PRO B league in 2009. After one short year in the Pro B, Evan moved on to Pro A. In 2010, Fournier signed a two-year contract with Poitiers Basket 86 of the LNB Pro A. During his time here, he was named two-time Pro A Rising Star (2011, 2012), two-time Pro A Most Improved Player (2011, 2012), and Pro A All-Star (2012). Fournier then entered the 2012 NBA Draft.
The Denver Nuggets selected Fournier with the 20th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft on June 28, 2012. He officially inked his name with the Nuggets on July 11. Fournier’s NBA career started off slow, as he appeared in just 29 of their first 73 games in his rookie year. He began to earn more time towards the end of the season, appearing in the final nine games of the year and starting in three of them. During that stint to end the year, Fournier scored a season-best 24 points. The following year, the Nuggets extended Fournier for an additional year in his rookie deal.
