Eric Bledsoe was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 9, 1989. Raised by a single mother, Bledsoe has two siblings. A five-star recruit out of high school, Bledsoe allegedly had to have his grades altered in order to make him NCAA eligible. However, nothing became of the issue as the NCAA eventually closed the investigation.

After being drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Bledsoe was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers before even playing for the Thunder. After spending some time in the NBA Developmental League, Bledsoe is not a key part of the Milwaukee Bucks. Bledsoe has turned himself into one of the league’s best defenders in recent years.

Eric Bledsoe Basketball Career

High School Career (Parker High School)

Eric Bledsoe played high school basketball at his hometown Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. During his senior season, he averaged 20.3 points, 11.5 assists and 9.4 rebounds per game. Bledsoe helped lead his team to a 5A state championship runner-up.

Bledsoe was a five-star recruit and considered a top five point guard in the country.

College Career (Kentucky)

Bledsoe played just one season of college basketball at Kentucky. He averaged 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He helped lead the Wildcats to 1 35-3 record and an Elite Eight appearance. He set the Kentucky school record with eight made three-pointers in a single NCAA tournament game. Playing alongside fellow freshman John Wall, Bledsoe typically played shooting guard.

Bledsoe elected to forgo his final three years of eligibility and elected to enter the 2010 NBA Draft.

NBA Career

Bledsoe was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 18th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. During his second season, Bledsoe was sent down to the development league due to the Clippers acquiring Chris Paul. However, in his third season, Bledsoe improved his stats dramatically, despite still sitting behind Paul. Bledsoe participated in the 2013 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

In July of 2013, Bledsoe was traded to the Phoenix Suns alongside teammate Caron Butler in a three-way trade with the Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks that sent the Suns' Jared Dudley and the Bucks' J.J. Redick to the Clippers with two different second round picks going to the Bucks.

Bledsoe signed a five-year deal worth $70 million with the Suns in the summer of 2014. In December of 2015, Bledsoe had surgery to repair a torn meniscus and missed the remainder of the season. He returned for the beginning of the 2016-2017 season but was shut down in March for the remainder of the season due to knee soreness. 

On November 7, 2017, Bledsoe was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Greg Monroe and a protected first and second-round pick. After the 2018-2019 season, Bledsoe was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Eric Bledsoe was born to Eric Bledsoe Sr. and Maureen Reddick in Birmingham, Alabama in December of 1989. His mother worked multiple jobs and raised Eric and his two siblings on her own.

Bledsoe married his longtime girlfriend, Morgan Poole, on July 1, 2017. The two have three children together.
