Projected to be undrafted. |
Is the third draft eligible year the charm? This over six foot Moscow born player put up a 45 goals (96 point) season as an overage-ager in the OHL this past season. Avoided being an CHL import draft selection by arriving to North America early joined the Canadian International Hockey Academy and playing so he could simply be taken without import status attached. Has seen action in four OHL seasons but in mid January two seasons ago, he fractured his ankle hitting into the boards, so that contributed to his taking longer to succeed. He was the Guelph Storm’s leading scorer. He is smart with the puck and supports his teammates well when he doesn’t. Looks deceptively strong against the younger opposition. That has lead to better results in puck protection, puck battles and in his possessions. Has very good jump and is able to get things done in flight. As a playmaker and scorer in junior there may be concerns to his work ethic away from the puck, but there is enough on the canvass to result in him finally getting his name called. Still needs to continuing building a 200 foot game, but has decent size and capabilities. Five years in North American programs so there is no language adjustment.
