Watching the US developmental team can be quite an eye-filling experience, because there are so many expectionally talented players to watch on almost each and every moment of play. It wasn’t until I heard that when asked about “Who was the most under-rated player on the team?’and ALL of the teams prominent members said it was Patrick Moynihan, that I took more time to get a look-see at his play.
He is not exceptional large, or a blazer of a skater, but nonetheless keeps moving on his well-balance strides in to proper areas of positioning and making himself an option for the biscuit to create opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is solid in all three zones and is the defender who ends up matching with the oppositions “bumper” in the high slot or even covering the low slot guy. This is a solid just under six foot two-way center who basically can line up at any one of the forward positions and help his team, slide up and down the line-up, disrupt flow as your penalty-killer and be impactful on offense. He is committed to Providence College where he will further build on his alla round game and body.
