Oskar Olausson

Another good Swedish wing with soft hands, quick stick, and slick moves. Confident in is game and dominate on the power play. Displays swagger, great vision, excellent touch, and a strong release, besides the high hockey IQ to direct traffic in his defensive zone. Has good jump and a powerful stride. (I am tired of reading about concerns in his skating, it is an overblown hearsay one of the Athletic experts has passed down.) Didn't get a big role or minutes during the World Junior Tournament, but took advantage of the ice he got to show his potential. He had six shots on goal and averaged 9:12 of ice time in four games for Sweden at the 2021 WJT U-20, and his year in Sweden started with 14 goals and 27 points in 16 junior games, then he was loaned to Södertäje in Allsvenskan, and had 3 goals (6 points in 9 contents there, which was similar to his World Junior where he looked good, and then invisible. Has good tools, sets up plays and has a nose for the net when he is consistent, engaged and competing hard. Granted, he was a much more inconsistent player, but he is now on an upward trajectory. It remains to be seen if he holds the scout's view as a first round selection. He is more of a shooter than a dish off guy, he has excellent jump and feet and is good in his entries. As a young guy he is still concerned with the offensive side and we have not seen much physicality which sometimes makes the difference in being selected in the first round or later.
