John Whipple

USA-National Developmental Team left shooting rearguard is a former Shattuck St. Mary's Alum who has nice size, four way skating ability and chops to play on any college team or eventually graduate to the pro game. Aggressive and confident on defense, using proper body and stick positioning to change possession, while imposing his will on physically on the play. Displays good vision and and awareness to read and react on both sides of the puck. Has ineffective first pass, and can support the rush. Has room for improvement ion his shot mechanics, power and release, and may nit live up to the hype that was generated when he was a star at Shattuck. Although he hasn’t really taken the anticipated steps offensively in his two years in the program, he can already play top minutes in a shutdown role. He is committed to the University of Minnesota where, hopefully, he can improve his puck sense.
