Odell Beckham Jr. Stats, Bio, Age, Net Worth, & Career

Odell Beckham Jr. is a wide receiver who plays for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League. Beckham is a game-breaking receiver who can beat defenses in a number of different ways. His combination of speed and athleticism makes him a tough cover even against the best defenses in the NFL.

High School Career (Isidore Newman High School)

Odell Beckham Jr. played his high school football at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He played a combination of quarterback, running back and wide receiver on offense. He also played cornerback on defense. In his final two seasons as a high school player, he scored a combined 38 touchdowns between his rushing and receiving numbers.

Beckham was a first team all-state selection as a wide receiver in 2011. For his success on the field, he was deemed a four-star recruit by multiple outlets. After receiving offers from schools like Ole Miss and Nebraska, Beckham chose to play his college football at LSU.

College Career (LSU Tigers)

At LSU, Odell Beckham Jr. put in three seasons with the football team. He caught 40 or more passes in each of his three years with the Tigers. In his freshman year, Beckham caught 41 balls for 475 yards and two touchdowns. He saw his productivity climb as a sophomore, with Beckham gaining 713 yards on 43 catches and another two scores. Beckham’s yards per catch average increased by five full yards in his second season, going from 11.6 yards per catch to 16.6 yards per catch.

Beckham’s junior season was where things took off for him. He caught 59 passes for 1,152 yards and eight touchdowns. Beckham earned a spot as a first team All-SEC selection for that season. He also won the Paul Hornung Award that season to recognize his worth both as a wide receiver and a member of the punt and kick return teams for the Tigers.

NFL Career

Odell Beckham Jr. was drafted with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Beckham made an immediate impact for the Giants, becoming the first Giants rookie in franchise history to rack up 185 receiving yards in a game. He was also the first rookie pass catcher to make the Pro Bowl from the Giants since Jeremy Shockey did the same as a tight end in 2002.

Beckham had at least 10 touchdown receptions in each of his first three seasons with the Giants. He also had over 1,300 receiving yards in each of those first three seasons. The only negative from those first three seasons was the NFL Disciplinary Committee electing to suspend Beckham for a game for player safety violations. Early in his fourth season, Beckham suffered a fractured ankle that required him to miss the remainder of that season, stunting his momentum as a player to that point in his career.

He returned for 12 games in the 2018 season after signing a massive contract extension with the Giants. Beckham again eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark, scoring six receiving touchdowns. In spite of that, the Giants chose to trade Beckham to the Cleveland Browns following the 2018 campaign in a deal that also sent Olivier Vernon to the Browns.

In his first season with the Browns, Beckham caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns. His rapport with Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was apparent right from the start. Beckham and Mayfield weren’t able to continue their success in year two together, though, with Beckham getting off to a slow start before suffering a torn ACL to end his 2020 season. He looks to return during the 2021 campaign.

Odell Beckham Jr. Net Worth, Salary, Endorsements & Career Earnings

Helping Beckham maintain his net worth is a series of endorsements that he has done during his time in the NFL. Beckham has been a spokesperson for brands including Nike and Head and Shoulders, which is an interesting pairing given that the brand has played off of Beckham’s trademark blonde hair. But any of Beckham’s personal issues have yet to impact his off-field endorsements in a way that is too meaningful.
