Miles Sanders is a running back in the National Football League who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. A native of Pennsylvania, Sanders played his college football in the state and has started his professional career there as well. Thus far, his professional career is off to a promising start despite some instability in the rest of his team’s offense.
Miles Sanders started his football career as a three-year starter at Woodland Hills High School in Churchill, Pennsylvania. During that time, he won the Mr. Football award for the state of Pennsylvania and was in the Under Armour All-American game after his senior season. He was a four-star recruit and chose to play college football at Penn State.
Sanders started his collegiate career sitting behind Penn State legend Saquon Barkley. But he made an impact returning kicks, and was an honorable mention on BTN.com’s all-Big Ten freshman team for averaging over 20 yards per return. As a junior, Sanders finally got a chance to start at running back. He was a member of the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker award, for the nation’s top running back. He rushed for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns, and was a member of the Maxwell Award watch list for his performance that season.
Miles Sanders was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In his rookie season, he set Eagles rookie records for rushing and scrimmage yards, as he averaged 4.6 yards per carry and found the end zone six times. Even with the Eagles facing quarterback changes and injuries to their offensive line, Sanders has been a consistently reliable force for their offense in his career so far.
Miles Sanders signed a four-year, $5.3 million rookie contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. To this point, that is the extent of his career earnings. Given the way that his career has started, it is expected that he will land a more lucrative second contract if he continues to perform this well.
Miles Sanders is the son of Marlene Sanders, who raised Miles and his brothers Kobe and Brian Sanders as a single mother. Sanders does have a girlfriend, Stephany Carballo, who have been in a long-term relationship with one another. To this point, Sanders does not have any children of his own.
