John Sherman Smith-Schuster, better known as JuJu Smith-Schuster, is a wide receiver in the National Football League who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. An electrifying personality both on and off the field, Smith-Schuster is someone who has no problem performing when the spotlight is on him.
Before he became a five-star recruit in high school, JuJu Smith-Schuster played for Snoop Dogg in the Snoop Youth Football League, where Snoop predicted he would be a regular on SportsCenter one day. In high school, Smith-Schuster started to prove him right by earning a designation as the number two wide receiver in his recruiting class. After initially committing to Oregon, Smith-Schuster changed his mind and chose USC.
While he did not have a four-year career at USC, JuJu Smith-Schuster made the most of his three seasons as a Trojan. He caught 25 touchdown passes in his three seasons at Southern California, including 10 in each of his final two seasons with the program. His final collegiate game saw him haul in seven passes for 133 yards and a score in USC’s Rose Bowl victory over Penn State in 2016. He elected to skip his senior year and enter the NFL Draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Smith-Schuster with the 62nd overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, getting the star receiver in the second round. Smith-Schuster hauled in seven touchdown receptions in each of his first two seasons as a pro. In 2018, Smith-Schuster had 1,426 receiving yards to go with his seven touchdown grabs, earning a place in the Pro Bowl in just his second year in the league. Smith-Schuster caught a touchdown in his first postseason game, which came as a rookie in 2017.
JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a four year, $4.2 million rookie deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017. He is set to become a free agent after the 2020 NFL season.
