DJ Chark is a wide receiver who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League. Despite organizational turmoil in Jacksonville, Chark has been a solid player for the Jaguars in the receiving corps. His reliability has helped his team keep putting points on the board through thick and thin.
DJ Chark played his high school football at Alexandria High School in Alexandria, Louisiana. While there, Chark had a successful career that earned him a number of offers from high-profile collegiate programs. Chark ended up choosing LSU for his college career over other schools that made offers to him including Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
At LSU, Chark went two full years without making a reception for the Tigers. He combined for 66 catches in his final two years, though, reeling in six receiving touchdowns during that time period. Chark turned heads in the Senior Bowl after his final season at LSU, with 160 receiving yards in the exhibition game and a touchdown.
Chark was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars thanks in large part to his top-end speed. Chark has been targeted 90 times or more in each of the last two seasons, highlighted by a 1,000 yard season in 2019. That year earned him a place in his first career Pro Bowl, a game he could find himself in again in the future.
DJ Chark signed a four year, $4.4 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. He earned an average annual salary of $1.1 million per year during that deal. The 2021 season is the final year of his rookie contract, after which Chark is expected to earn a more lucrative second contract in the NFL.
DJ Chark is the son of Darrell Chark and Shirley Chark. He has one sister, and is married to long-time girlfriend Chantelle Baker. The two are expecting a child in 2021.
