DeAndre Hopkins is a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL. After a successful college career at Clemson, Hopkins was drafted by the Houston Texans in the 1st round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
After seven successful seasons in Houston, where Hopkins earned 4 Pro Bowls and was selected to 4 All-Pro teams, he was traded in the 2020 offseason to the Cardinals for running back David Johnson and a 2nd round pick.
Hopkins was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing football, basketball and track and field. Over his high school football career, Hopkins amassed 57 receptions for 1,266 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was also a beast on defense, with 28 interceptions and 5 touchdowns.
Hopkins had a prolific career with the Tigers under coach Dabo Swinney. Despite leaving for the draft after his junior year, Hopkins recorded a school record with 3,020 receiving yards and 27 touchdown receptions. A year later, former teammate Sammy Watkins surpassed the receiving yards record.
The Houston Texans drafted Hopkins in the first round with the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. On July 24, 2013, Hopkins signed a four-year, $7.62 million rookie contract.
Hopkins was quick to entrench himself as a top receiver on the team, since he led them with 76 receptions, 1,210 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign.
Hopkins took his game to another level in 2015, when he finished the 2015 season with then-career highs in receptions (111), receiving yards (1,521), and touchdowns (11), despite playing with a carousel of journeyman quarterbacks. He earned his first career Pro Bowl nomination and was named second-team All-Pro.
On March 20, 2020, the Texans traded Hopkins and a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Johnson, a 2020 second-round pick, and a 2021 fourth-round pick.
On September 8, 2020, Hopkins signed a two-year, $54.5 million contract extension with the Cardinals. In Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills, he had the best play of his career: a game-winning Hail Mary catch in the end zone over three defenders.
Hopkins has a reported net worth of $25 million. On August 31, 2017, the Texans signed him to a five-year, $81 million contract extension with $49 million guaranteed, entrenching his status as one of the best wideouts in the league.

Hopkins was raised by his single mother, Sabrina Greenlee, with whom he has a very close relationship. She worked two jobs throughout his childhood to support him.
In 2002, Greenlee had a boiling concoction of lye and bleach thrown on her face, which resulted in the skin rapidly peeling off her neck, face, and back. Hopkins' mother was left completely blind as a result of this attack.
Hopkins' father, Harris Steve Hopkins, sadly died in a car accident before DeAndre's first birthday. Hopkins' uncle Terry Smith played wide receiver at Clemson and signed to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad.
At Clemson, Hopkins majored in community recreation and sport & camp management. He also holds a SMOOOTH Back-to-school giveaway that gives school supplies for over 2,500 children.
