Chase Edmonds is a running back for the Arizona Cardinals. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Edmonds excelled at both football and basketball at Central Dauphin High School. Due to his lack of size (currently 5’9”), Edmonds wasn’t highly recruited out of high school. As a result, he attended Fordham University. He went on to have one of the best careers in FCS history. Edmonds was eventually drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Primarily working as a backup in his three years in the NFL, Edmonds is considered to be one of the best backup running backs in the league due to his ability to both run and catch out of the backfield.
Chase Edmonds played high school football at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was also an excellent basketball player as well. Edmonds had a stellar high school football career, totaling 2,378 yards and 25 touchdowns his senior season. However, he never received little interest from FBS schools.
Fordham was one of the few D-I programs to take a chance on Edmonds. He made an immediate impact on the team his freshman season. He played in 14 games and rushed the ball 294 times. He ran for 1,838 yards and 23 touchdowns in his freshman season. He won the Jerry Rice Award for Most Outstanding Freshman in FCS.
Edmonds' amount of carries dropped his sophomore year but his production rose. He only ran the ball 251 times but he still totaled 1,648 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also had a coming out party as a receiving back, hauling in 31 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns.
Edmonds’ senior season was cut short due to injury. He played just seven games in his final collegiate season. In 44 career collegiate games, Edmonds rushed for 5,862 yards, 67 touchdowns and he also caught 86 receptions for 905 yards and seven touchdowns.
Chase Edmonds was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 134th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. He saw brief playing time in his rookie season, totaling 60 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
In 2019, Edmonds got his first career 100-yard rushing game. In Week 7 of his second season, he ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns against the New York Giants. He also finished 2019 with 60 carries, this time he totaled 303 yards and four touchdowns.
Now in 2020, Edmonds has already set career highs in rushes, rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. After replacing an injured Kenyan Drake for a couple of weeks, Edmonds has made a name for himself as perhaps one of the best back-up running backs in the NFL who is also an excellent receiver.
Chase Edmonds signed a four-year deal worth $2.9 million after being drafted by the Cardinals. His salary for 2020 will be $750,000. He has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
