WEEK 9 NFL PICKS FOR EVERY GAME
WEEK 9 NFL PICKS FOR EVERY GAME
The story for the season has started to be rewritten. Earlier in the season, the San Francisco 49ers looked like the best team in the NFL, but now they have lost three games in a row. After being anointed as a miracle worker, quarterback Brock Purdy is making very human mistakes and turning the ball over.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins play the most compelling game of the week, but it will take place in Germany early Sunday morning. The Chiefs are coming off a bad loss to the Denver Broncos, and their offense has no been at the expected level this season

NFL WEEK 9 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD AND PREDICTIONS
Take a look at all of our picks and predictions for every NFL matchup. We cover all Week 9 games with our expert analysis and determine the best NFL Week 9 picks.
TENNESSEE TITANS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Spread: Pitt. -2.5
O-U: 36.5
Moneyline: Pittsburgh -136, Tennessee +116
The Steelers have struggled badly this season. It is difficult to conclude they could be a playoff team this season. Kenny Pickett suffered rib injury in Week 8 and did not play after the first quarter. His status for this Thursday night game has not been determined, and Mitch Trubisky will get the start if Pickett has not improved. The Steelers are led by T.J. Watt on defense, and he could smell blood in the water because the Titans appear are in the rebuild mode as they start rookie quarterback Will Levis.
Derrick Henry (526 yards and 3 TDs) remains a game-changing running back with sensational power and a punishing stiff arm. The Steelers are 13-6 straight up and ATS vs. the Titans at home.
Prediction: Pittsburgh, Straight up and ATS.
MIAMI DOLPHINS vs. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Spread: KC -2.5
O-U: 50.5
Moneyline: KC -146, Miami +124
The Chiefs were on a serious roll with 6 wins in a row, but they suddenly lost to the Denver Broncos, one of the worst teams in the league. Patrick Mahomes was embarrassed by his team’s performance and Kansas City is likely to turn it around completely in Week 9.
The Dolphins overcame a slow start against New England, and it’s clear they have one of the best offensive teams in the league. The Chiefs will look at this game as a challenge, and they have a stronger defense and will not let this opportunity in front of the German fans slip through their grasp. The Chiefs are 8-2 straight against AFC East teams in their last 10 games.
Prediction: Kansas City, Straight up and ATS
LOS ANGELES RAMS at GREEN BAY PACKERS
Spread: GB -2.5
O-U: 39.5
Moneyline: Green Bay -130, LA Rams +110
The Packers are in deep trouble this season as they dropped their 4th game in a row in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The RB combination of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon would be sufficient if they were getting solid production from quarterback Jordan Love, but they are not. Love is not an accurate passer and he rarely puts the ball in a position where receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs can make big yards after the catch.
The Rams caught a whipping from the Dallas Cowboys, and quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a thumb injury that leaves him as questionable for this game. The Rams need more from All-Pro Aaron Donald (4.5 sacks) than they have gotten to this point, but linebacker Ernest Jones (75 tackles) is a going concern. Green Bay is 8-2 straight up and 9-1 ATS vs. the Rams in their last 10 games.
Prediction: L.A. Rams, Straight up and ATS
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at HOUSTON TEXANS
Spread: Houston -2.5
O-U: 39
Moneyline: Houston -130, TB +110
The Texans have to be disappointed after losing to the previously winless Panthers on the final play of the game. However, they can’t let that missed opportunity stick with them. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud reads defense well and he has a solid target in wideout Nico Collins. Running back Dameon Pierce is able to take some of the pressure of Stroud.
The Bucs have been quite pesky this season and Baker Mayfield has taken advantage of his opportunity and kept Tampa Bay competitive. If the Bucs can get the ball to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin early, they can dictate the pace of the game and possibly come away with the road win. Houston is 4-1 straight up and 3-1-1 ATS vs. Tampa Bay.
Prediction: Tampa Bay, Straight up and ATS
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Spread: NE -2.5
O-U: 38.5
Moneyline: NE -126, LAR +108
The Commanders are under significant pressure and nobody is feeling it more than head coach Ron Rivera. After winning the first 2 games of the season, the Commanders have lost 4 of 5 and their fans have run out of patience. Sam Howell was razor sharp for 3 quarters against the Eagles, but that was not enough to get the win against Philadelphia. If he can match that performance against New England, it should get the job done.
The Patriots still have a strong defense, but they will have a difficult time staying with Washington wideout Terry McLaurin. The evidence on New England quarterback Mac Jones is in, and it is unlikely he will ever be more than a below average starter. NFC East teams are 7-2 ATS against New England when playing on the road.
Prediction: Washington, Straight up and ATS
MINNESOTA VIKINGS at ATLANTA FALCONS
Spread: Atl. -3.5
O-U: 36.5
Moneyline: Atlanta -190, Minnesota +160
The Vikings appeared to be at the portion of their schedule where they could launch themselves back into contention for the division title as they face the Falcons, Saints, Broncos and Bears over the next 4 weeks. The Kirk Cousins injury changes that dramatically. Rookie Jaren Hall will get the call in this game, and he lacks know-how and may not have all the skills needed to win. Suddenly, the Vikings are playing brilliant defense under Brian Flores, and they will need that unit to keep improving thanks to Danielle Hunter and Harrison Smith.
The Falcons have turned to Taylor Heinicke under center, and he is probably better than the Vikings’ Hall at this point. Bijan Robinson (5.07 yards per carry) is special at running back, but the Falcons lack go-to receivers. The Vikings are 4-1 straight up and ATS in their last 5 games against the Falcons
Prediction: Atlanta, Straight up and ATS
ARIZONA CARDINALS at CLEVELAND BROWNS
Spread: Cle. -7.5
O-U: 37.5
Moneyline: Cle. -370, Ariz. +295
There are some games where Cleveland looks like it has the best defense in the league. However, in their losses, they have given up one or two big plays at the wrong moment, and they have snatched defeat from victory. That took place in Week 8 against Seattle, when Geno Smith threw the game-winning TD pass with 38 seconds remaining.
The Cardinals may have Kyler Murray back in the lineup for this game, and if he can’t play, they will go with Clayton Tune. Cleveland edge rusher Myles Garrett should be able to dominate the game. He has 8.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles and regularly asserts his will against opposing signal callers. The Cardinals are 6-1 straight up and 5-2 ATS against the Browns.
Prediction: Cleveland, Straight up and ATS
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at BALTIMORE RAVENS
Spread: Balt -5.5
O-U: 42.5
Moneyline: Balt. -240, Sea. +198
This represents a major test for the Seahawks as they travel cross country to face a Ravens team that has hit its stride. Geno Smith is not playing at the same level he did a year ago, but he will have to pick it up against the Baltimore defense. The RB combination of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet has big-play ability, as does the Seattle receiving crew. Rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba is starting to improve after a slow start.
Lamar Jackson has thrown 9 TD passes and has also run for 5 touchdowns. Wideout Zay Flowers has game-changing speed while tight end Mark Andrews is a huge red zone factor with 6 TD receptions already. Defensive tackle Justin Madubuike is relatively unknown, but he is a force with 6.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. The Seahawks have lost 7 of 10 road games against AFC North opponents
Prediction: Baltimore, Straight up and ATS
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at CAROLINA PANTHERS
Spread: Ind. -2.5
O-U: 43.5
Moneyline: Ind. -136, Carolina +116
The Colts have dropped their last three games to the Jaguars, Browns and Saints, but don’t think for a second that this team can’t compete. They have been productive offensively under head coach Shane Steichen and backup QB Gardner Minshew. The running game is solid with Zack Moss and Jonathan Taylor (both averaging 4.7 yards per carry).
The Panthers ended their season-long losing streak with a last-second, 15-13 victory over the Houston Texans. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young is going through the growing pains, but he is making progress. Wideout Adam Thielen has great hands but lacks speed. The Panthers rank 12th on defense, and linebacker Frankie Luvu has a team-leading 51 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Prediction: Indianapolis, Straight up and ATS.
DALLAS COWBOYS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Spread: Phil. -2.5
O-U: 46.5
Moneyline: Philadelphia -154, Dallas +130
The Eagles are the best team in the league to this point. There have been moments they have struggled in recent weeks against the Rams, Dolphins and Commanders, but they won all of those games. Jalen Hurts takes the responsibility for the team on his shoulders, and he will not make mistakes when the game is on the line. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have the skill and the toughness to make game-changing plays.
The Cowboys have been one of the most inconsistent teams and head coach Mike McCarthy has struggled to prepare his team from time to time. Dak Prescott often feels the pressure and turns the ball over with frequency. The Cowboys depend on Micah Parsons (6.0 sacks) to impose his will on opposing quarterbacks. Cornerback DaRon Bland has 4 interceptions and he has returned 3 of them for touchdowns. The Cowboys are 3-1 straight up and ATS in their last 4 games with the Eagles.
Prediction: Philadelphia, Straight up and ATS
NEW YORK GIANTS at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Spread: LV -5.5
O-U: 37.5
Moneyline: LV -210, NYG +176
The Giants and the Raiders are two teams that can’t get out of their own way this season. The Giants have lost 6 of 8 games, and the Week 8 loss to the Jets may have been the most painful of all. The Giants get strong-armed quarterback Daniel Jones back this week, but he has not shown he can win consistently.
The Raiders have a series of stars in Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby, but the team has not come close to jelling under head coach Josh McDaniels and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders are coming off a short week after losing to the Lions on Monday night football, but the Giants simply make too many mistakes. The Raiders have lost 7 of 10 games to NFC East opponents
Prediction: LVR, Straight up; NYG, ATS
BUFFALO BILLS at CINCINNATI BENGALS
Spread: Cincinnati -1.5
O-U: 47.5
Moneyline: Cincinnati -118, Buff. +100
This will be one of the most emotional games of the year. The two teams are meeting at the same site that saw Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin nearly lose his life when his heart stopped beating. The heroic measures taken on the field were both scary and uplifting, and the memory remains in the hearts and minds of both teams.
The Bengals are playing their best football of the year and Joe Burrow is in top form after completing 28 of 32 passes for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Bills are capable of explosive performances, but Josh Allen is somewhat inconsistent. If the Bills fall behind, the mistakes will likely add up and Cincinnati will roll. Buffalo is 5-2-1 in its last 8 games vs AFC North opponents.
Prediction: Cincinnati, Straight up and ATS
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS at NEW YORK JETS
Spread: LAC -1.5
O-U: 42.5
Moneyline: LAC -121, NYJ +100
The Chargers overpowered a very shaky Chicago Bears team, and while that was expected, it could go a long way towards helping Los Angeles turn its season around. Quarterback Justin Herbert looked razor sharp and is starting to overcome the broken finger on his non-passing hand. Keenan Allen is making a bid for the Pro Bowl this season, and the Chargers got a lift from the return of Austin Ekeler, one of the most versatile running backs in the league.
The Jets had a miracle last-second win over the Giants last week as quarterback. Zach Wilson completed two passes in the final 20 seconds to set up the tying field goal and the Jets would go on to beat the Giants in overtime. While the Jets have an impressive defense, it may be difficult to slow down the Chargers. The Chargers are 7-3 straight up against the Jets.
Prediction: LAC, Straight Up and ATS
WEEK 9 NFL PICKS & BEST BETS
NFL PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD: BEST BETS FOR WEEK 9 OF THE NFL
- Kansas City -2.5 over Miami – The Chiefs have not been the offensive juggernaut that was expected this season, and they are coming off their worst performance of the season in an inexplicable loss to the Broncos. While playing the game overseas in Frankfurt, Germany is a huge variable, look for the Chiefs to demonstrate their offensive proficiency. Patrick Mahomes outduels Tua Tagovailoa.
- At Philadelphia -2.5 over Dallas – The Cowboys are coming off an overwhelming performance against the Los Angeles Rams, but Mike McCarthy has not demonstrated he can consistently prepare his team. The Eagles have been the best team in the NFL this season and Jalen Hurts and his stellar receivers will pull away from the Cowboys in the second half.
- At Cincinnati -1.5 over Buffalo – The Bengals appear to have hit their stride with 3 consecutive wins and Joe Burrow is once again in top form. He completed 28 of 32 passes for 283 yards with 3 TDs against the Niners, and the Bills may not be able to slow him down. Buffalo tends to make too many mistakes, and the Bengals will take advantage
