Analysis
Williams has shown some great potential since his transfer from Duke to Memphis. He has good size at the point guard position, though he often seems more comfortable playing as a shooting guard. His strengths lie on the offensive end, where he does a great job getting into the lane and drawing fouls. He has improved his perimeter shot and range, though he needs to work on his shot selection, where he has a tendency to take too many bad shots or to pass up open shots. Defensively, Williams doesn’t have the speed or lateral movement to cover smaller point guards, so he often guards the off guard position, though he lacks the strength of most shooting guards. Williams clearly has the skills of a NBA player, though he needs to develop his point guard skills more to play at that level.
