Analysis
Rautins has been a great story in college basketball this season. While its been said that he was given a scholarship out of high school as a sign of respect for his father, former Syracuse great Leo Rautins, Andy has developed into a professional-caliber player through an incredible work ethic. Offense is where Rautins shines. He is a threat to shoot from anywhere, and his shot is quick and consistent. This season he played as a combo-guard and he had the opportunity to show his court vision and passing skills. His biggest weakness on the offensive end is that he tends to stay on the perimeter, so defenders can play tight on him. On defense, Rautins is a good perimeter defender and does a good job keeping players in front of him, though he lacks ideal speed and lateral movement. He does a good job knowing where he should be on the court. While he doesn’t have the all-around game to be a NBA starter, he has the work ethic and shooting ability to be a valuable role player.
